~Gary Cormier, 74, passed away in his Alabama home August 12th. He was born February 18th, 1952 in New Jersey to Joseph & Margaret Cormier as firstborn while Joe served in the US Army. He retired from Chrysler Corporation as a Solder Wave Engineer which took him to live in California & Illinois for a time, before he returned to Alabama where he settled. He was continually inventing ways to improve their production lines. In his early years he was “almost” an Eagle Scout & was shy only a merit badge or two. He often stated that he was not close enough to claim the Eagle Scout title. Gary graduated from S.R. Butler High School in Huntsville in 1970 and was in ROTC and the Science Club. He remained an avid outdoorsman through most of his life. He also served as a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. For decades, Gary turned to his CB radio as “Red Rock” to keep up on all things happening. Later in life, he enjoyed his CB radio community above most other forms of entertainment. An exception might be food. He loved to cook, eat, and share meals with others. Gary found himself most joyful when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord & Savior late in life. Gary is survived by a son Joshua Cormier of Florida, sisters Cathy Cormier, Judy Cormier, both of Alabama, & Nancy (Tim) Deaver of Ohio. He had several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Marge Cormier. We are grateful for Hospice of North Alabama for the care & support that they provided to Gary & his family. At this time, there are no arrangements.
