Garey Wayne Whitlock, 78 of Union Grove passed away Thursday, July 24, 2025, at his residence. He was born January 16, 1947, in Marshall County, the son of L. D. Whitlock and Lillian Jones Whitlock. He was a graduate of Arab High school, Class of 1966 and served faithfully and honorably for the US Army National Guard, retiring in 2007 with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Union Grove First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years: Fay Martin Whitlock; children: Shane Whitlock, Amanda Gibbs and Chris Whitlock; grandchildren: Jesse (Brandon) Knutson, Ella Gibbs, Whit Gibbs, Gage Whitlock, Jax Whitlock, Bryar Whitlock and Taylor Whitlock; great grandchild: Karsyn Knutson; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: L. D. and Lillian Whitlock, brother: Lelton Whitlock, sisters: Carolyn Whitlock and Betty Nabors.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2025, at Union Grove First Baptist Church with Brother Greg Narrell officiating. The burial will be in the adjoining cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Gober Funeral Chapel. He will also lie-in-state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers: Mike Whitlock, Kenny Whitlock, Gage Whitlock, Jax Whitlock, Steve Reynolds and Nic Gibbs. Honorary Pallbearers: Whit Gibbs and Bryar Whitlock.
