SCOTTSBORO-On 7/26/25 at approximately 0049 hours, the Scottsboro Police Department responded to a domestic incident on Ruth Street in Scottsboro.
Scottsboro Police Department along with multiple other agencies are searching for a suspect in relation to an officer being shot in the area of County Park Rd and Hwy 72 this morning. The suspect is Daniel Victor Mccarn, age 29, formerly of Huntsville, now residing in Scottsboro. He is 5’10, 260 lbs. brown hair and brown eyes. McCarn should be considered armed and dangerous.

Upon arrival, the suspect fled in a vehicle and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended in a crash at the intersection of US Hwy 72 and County Park Road.
The suspect exited the vehicle and began firing shots, striking an officer involved in the pursuit. The suspect fled on foot. At this time, a multi-agency manhunt is currently underway to attempt to locate the suspect.
The officer is being treated at Huntsville Hospital at this time.
The officer’s injuries are not life threatening. Suspect is still at large. Call 911 or *HP if suspect is seen or if you have information about this person.
