Gail Youngblood, a devoted homemaker, caring wife, and deeply loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on March 5, 1948, in Selmer, Tennessee, she was the cherished daughter of the late Leonard Houston Crabb and Mary Emma Reed Crabb. On June 30, 1972, Gail was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Joe Youngblood. Together, they built a life full of warmth, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Donald fondly recalls times fishing with Gail into the sunset, where her competitive spirit shone bright as she tried her best to out-catch him—even while he playfully cheated on the fish count. Her sons also lovingly remember taking her deer hunting, a trip made priceless when, upon spotting a deer, Gail couldn’t contain her excitement and loudly shouted, “Deer!”
Gail’s primary focus in life was her role as a homemaker and nurturing her family. She possessed a heart that loved all children, and she was always careful to ensure every child in her life knew just how deeply they were loved. She took immense pride in her grandchildren and lived for family gatherings, eagerly looking forward to Sunday lunches and holiday meals as her favorite way to show her love. In quieter moments, Gail enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation, tending to her flowers and watching the birds gather at her feeders. Her faith was the anchor of her life, and Chewalla Baptist Church was far more than just a place of worship for her—it was a true home. Gail was involved in every aspect of church life, generously serving in the kitchen, assisting with baptisms, and supporting her church family in any way she could.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mary Emma Crabb; her brother, Glen Crabb; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Bea Youngblood.
Her enduring legacy of love, faith, and devotion continues through her surviving family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Youngblood; her son Dan Youngblood; and her son Brian Youngblood and wife Lindsey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anna Paige Austin and husband Alex, Garrett Youngblood and wife Megan, Grant Youngblood and wife Anna, Sadie Youngblood and partner Preston, and Harper Youngblood; as well as her great-grandchildren, Andee Austin, Atlas Austin, Taytum Blake Youngblood, Holland Blair Youngblood, and Swayzie Gale Youngblood. She leaves behind her siblings, Carolyn Fowler, Martha Penley and husband Dale, Billy Crabb, Dorothy Vaughn and husband Reece, Terry Crabb, Jim Crabb and wife Loretta, Bonnie Acker, and Becky Wright; a special cousin who was like a sister to her, Linda Jones; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
