Franklin Burns – Obituary

Franklin Burns, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on April 22, 2017, in the Henryville community.  He was born in Lawrence County, TN on August 22, 1931, to parents, Lonnie and Stella Burns, who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Burns.

Franklin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annette Jackson Burns.  Survivors also include son, Douglas Burns (Gina); daughters, Pat Dial (Doug), Renee Newton (Harold), Tina Brown, Terra Smith (James) all of Ethridge, TN.  He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Franks (William); and brothers, Norman Burns (Brenda) and Kenny Burns.

Franklin was a veteran of the Korean War.  He was retired from Murray Ohio Mfg. Co., Evers Construction Co., and owner of Franklin Burns Electrical.  He served on Lawrence County Board of Education from September 1974  to June 1991.   He also served as a Lawrence County Commissioner from 1994-2006.  He was a Christian and member of the Springer Road Church of Christ.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 26, 2017, with Evan Burns officiating. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN with full military honors.
