Frank Nightingale – Obituary

Funeral service for Frank Nightingale, 83, of Somerville will be November 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, with a Military graveside service at Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Nightingale was born November 17, 1930 in Ohio, New York to Howard Nelson Nightingale and Ethel Whitmore Nightingale. He passed away November 08, 2014 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

Frank served eight years in the US Navy and then twelve years in the Air Force, serving one tour in Viet Nam. After retiring, he then served fifteen years in the Civil Service. He was a member of VFW Post 4190 in Decatur.

Frank played the guitar, wrote a novel, and was an artist. He was devoted to home, family, and to his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his brother; Gerald Nightingale, sister; Selma Nightingale, partens; Howard and Ethel Nightingale of Pine Island, FL.

He is survived by his wife; Linda Nightingale, of Somerville, three sons; Howard Nightingale of Texas, Ron Shelton of Minnesota, and Steven Jones of Kansas, four daughters; Deborah Howerton of CaneHill Arkansas, Darleen Jensen of Gilbert Arizona, Anita Chipman of Gulfport Mississippi, Alicia Hill of Telford Tennessee, and Kathy Rohrer of Kansas, one sister; Carol Root of New York, twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Military will serve as pallbearers.
