Frank Glen Mitchell, 85 of Ardmore, Alabama died on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Born Tuesday, February 25, 1930 in Ardmore, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James Lewis Mitchell and the late Mary Miller Mitchell Smith, He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Ardmore Methodist Church.
He was retired from NASA where he received many awards. It was his suggestion and implementation that brought the Saturn Rocket to the Ardmore Welcome Center. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed cattle farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Robert Mitchell and Calvin Elmer Mitchell.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years: Joyce Wales Mitchell of Ardmore, AL, son: Harlan Mitchell of Ardmore, AL, daughter: Glenda (Bob) Brown of Ardmore, AL, brothers: James Marion Mitchell of Priceville, AL and Rayburn W Mitchell of Dry Fork, VA, two grandchildren: David Mitchell and Beth Reed, and five great-grandchldren.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Sylone Cemetery, Elkmont, AL, with Bro. Derrick Moose officiating.
