Frank E. McCarthy, a resident of Killen, died April 20, 2013, in Rome, Italy. He was born in Wilkes-Barre Pa. on Oct. 10, 1939. He graduated from Wyoming Seminary and Kings College. He was a member of the Gate of Heaven Catholic Church in Dallas, Pa.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Claire E. McCarthy. He is survived by his wife, Ann Youmans McCarthy, of Killen; a daughter, Shannon Shearer; and granddaughter, Katie Smith Shearer, of Largo, Fla.; and a son, Frank E. McCarthy Jr., of Laguna, Calif.
He worked for McCarthy Tire Co. in Wilkes-Barre until 1970 when he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. where he began a successful 35 year career in the insurance business.
A memorial service will be held at the First Methodist Church in Killen May 30th at 6:30 p.m. There will be a burial at sea later in the summer in St. Petersburg, Fla.
