Florida N. Borcher, 96, a long-time resident of Brookdale Place in Huntsville, passed away Tuesday morning, June 13th.  She is survived by daughter Genie Riddle and husband, Lee, of Madison, and sons Chuck Borcher and wife, Sue, of Harvest, Dan Borcher of Jacksonville, Florida, Tom Borcher of Huntsville and Gonzalo Vera and wife, Aulis, from Chile, South America.   Her spirit lives on in her eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Florida was born in Gallatin, Tennessee.  She graduated from George Washington University and was a member of Phi Mu sorority.

She was predeceased by her husband of almost 70 years, Charles A. Borcher, originally of Wisconsin.  They made a home and family together first in Maryland, then in Maitland, Florida.  Later they moved to Waterloo, Iowa and retired in Keowee Key, South Carolina, before moving to Brookdale Place in Huntsville in 2004.

Florida enjoyed playing bridge and mah jong, translating books for the blind, doing needlework for her home and family members, and spending time with her family.  She was a lifelong and active member of the Episcopal Church, most recently at St. Thomas in Huntsville where she will be laid to rest.

The family wishes to thank Brookdale Place for their care during her years of residency, and Marilyn Lands, for her ministry to Mom and the family during these last few months.  It is requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to the National Psoriasis Foundation at www.psoriasis.org/donate.

A memorial service is being planned and details will be announced on this site at a later date.
