Florence Police Respond to Reported Shots Fired

shots-fired-gun-shooting-crime-policeFLORENCE-Around 1:40 pm, Wednesday,October 8th The Florence Police Department responded to a report  of shots fired call in 300 block of North Eclipse. No injuries  were reported.  Here is the statement made by the Florence Police Department:

Official Statement From The Florence Police Department:

“At 1:30p today, Florence Police responded to a person with a gun call in the area of Huntsville Road and Eclipse Street. A witness advised officers that a male was carrying a long rifle and had pointed it at their vehicle. Officers arrived and confronted the male in the 300 block of N. Eclipse Street. A Florence Officer fired shots at the male who then surrendered to police. The male was detained and is being involuntarily committed to ECM hospital for evaluation. No one was injured in the incident. This case is being reviewed by the ABI, pursuant to policy. The name of the officer and the suspect are not being released at this time.”
