Faye Horton Chastain, 85, of Muscle Shoals, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, from 12pm – 3pm at Highland Park Church of Christ, Muscle Shoals. The funeral service will follow immediately at the church at 3pm, with Ben Hayes and Michael Jackson officiating.

Faye was affectionately known as “Miss Faye” to children of all ages. She began teaching Sunday school at 17 years-old and taught for over 60 years. Many generations passed through the door of Miss Faye’s two year-old Bible class. She dedicated her life to opening the eyes of small children and sharing the story of God’s creation, His love for them, and their part in the story. Miss Faye spent many Saturday afternoons attending the birthday parties of her young friends.

Faye was an active member of Highland Park Church of Christ and took great joy in spending time with the Ladies Bible Class, helping with Lads to Leaders, and was a recipient of the Heritage Award, a service award recognizing years of service to her church family.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Chastain, and their daughter Ginger Leigh Chastain.

Survivors: Sons, James Todd Chastain (Joy) of Florence, and Mark Alan Chastain (Larissa) of Huntsville; grandchildren, Harrison (Madison), Carley (Josh), Claire, Hailey, and Ethan Chastain; sister, Barbara Strange of Acworth, GA; brother James A Horton (Rose) of Ripley, MS; nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for their love and excellent care of their mother. The genuineness shown by staff and residents will be forever impactful on the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mars Hill Bible School, Florence, AL.
