Farris Martin Gregory, 92, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born December 26, 1930, in Oxford to Harold and Louise Higdon Gregory. Early on in his life, his family moved to Greenwood. After graduating from Greenwood High School, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a proud veteran and loved going to programs recognizing veterans. When he returned from the service, he met and married Willie Frances Sanders. He graduated from the University of Mississippi and was a Hotty Toddy Rebel until his death. He loved all things Ole Miss, flying, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Farris loved a good joke and always was eager to share one to brighten someone’s day.
Farris worked in management positions in Bay St. Louis, New Albany, Greenwood, and Tunica before settling in Fulton. He owned Farris’s Drive In, a local spot for Itawamba students for several years, before finishing his career with the Forestry Service.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Tommy Winders and Bro. David Haynes officiating. Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery.
Farris leaves behind his loving wife of 67 years, Willie; his children, Scott Gregory (Teresa) of Saltillo, and Sharon Kaye Lesley (Johnny) and Christie Thomas (Ronnie), all of Fulton; ten grandchildren, Stephanie Harrison (Robert), Matt Lesley (Beth), Will Lesley (Christine), Olivia McMullen (Lee), Lauren Shields (Garrig), Britney Martin (Nathan), Austin Thomas, Joseph Koon (Jessie), Jared Koon (Savannah), and Jenna Rose Vasquez (Christopher); and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Louise Gregory; one brother, Harold Gregory, Jr.; and one sister, Dorothy Porter.
Pallbearers will be Matt Lesley, Will Lesley, Austin Thomas, Jonathan Lesley, Robert Harrison, Lee McMullen, Garrig Shields, and Nathan Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Koon, Jared Koon, and Christopher Vasquez.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
