F. June West, 74, of Double Springs, entered into rest on January 20, 2015 Walker Baptist Medical Center.
She was born on February 15, 1940. June was a member of Church of Christ for 60 years. She was a 1958 graduate of Parrish High School in Selma, Alabama and a 1982 graduate of Mesa Community College. She worked for US Civil Servant for 32 years and retired as a Deputy Director of Public Relations for Secretary of HHS and Surgeon General C. Everett Koop. June won numerous awards for singing competitions in Alabama as a teenager and was on the Dean’s list and Phi Beta Kappa in college. She loved singing, fishing, reading, sewing, knitting, traveling, bowling, gardening, and nature walks,
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 11am-1pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs, where services will be held 1pm. Vance Hutton will officiate. Burial will follow in Double Springs Memorial Cemetery.
June is survived by her daughter, Paula June West and a host of church family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Donna Theresa Capps; parents, Harris Byrty and Freddie Lee Ballard Goggans; and infant brother, James Harris Goggans
