Graveside Services for Mr. Ezra “Sonny” Whaley Jr. , age 83 of Lineville, were held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Clay County Memory Gardens with Bro. David Holcombe officiating.
Mr. Whaley passed away on Sunday, January 24th, 2021 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. Ezra was born on March 23rd, 1937 in Wedowee, Alabama to Ezra Sr. and Avis Gabriel Whaley. He went on to marry Wanda Moody and spent time raising his only son, Jimmy. On May 29th, 1994, Sonny became ordained as a deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Sonny enjoyed working at the Piggly Wiggly in Lineville, where he had worked for over 20 years. He loved spending time with his family and was a member of the Lineville community for over 34 years.
Mr. Whaley is survived by his son, Jimmy Whaley (Kelly) of Oxford; three grandchildren: Morgan Elizabeth Whaley, Joshua Keith Whaley, and Addyson Makenna Whaley; two sisters: Jeanette Robertson of Lineville and Reba Reed of Wedowee; one brother, Forrest Whaley (Margaret) of Gadsden; and a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Wanda Moody Whaley.
Active Pallbearers will be: Joshua Whaley, Connor Culver, Brandon Robinson, Tim Taylor, Joey Loveless, and Bailey Robinson.
