Eva Nuwayhid, age 87, passed away on January 18, 2021 after a 4 month battle with cancer. Eva was born in Lebanon and came to the United States at age 19 to attend LSU, where she married her husband Ed, who was also from Lebanon. She moved to Huntsville from Ohio, in 1963 with her husband, who was involved in the space program and their 4 children. Eva was a local business owner in the community where she managed and operated Caravan Imports for over 30 years before retiring. After retirement, Eva continued her life-long passion for service and involvement in the community by attending UAH, volunteering at the Hospital, Manna House, the Botanical Gardens, local nursing homes, and several local churches. She loved God and loved people and was known by everyone for her endless generosity, compassion and hospitality. One of her favorite verses was Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Eva would share the love of Christ with everyone whom she came in contact and was an active member of the ladies Sunday School class at Southside Baptist, now Rivertree. Her passions included traveling, entertaining, cooking, gardening and knitting. Each year she would knit hundreds of scarves and blankets that she would pass out to anyone and everyone she would meet each day. Her scarves were distributed to the homeless camps in the community and her blankets were for the babies at the NICU.
Eva leaves behind her daughter, Aida Moultrie (husband, Ken Moultrie); son, Sami Nuwayhid (wife, Pam); son Ramsay Nuwayhid (wife, Elizabeth); 11 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Omar; and grandson, Joseph.
Please join us celebrating her life Friday, January 22, 2021, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and celebration service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Manna House of Huntsville in memory of Eva.
