FLORENCE – The man accused of murder at a local motel has preliminary hearing in Court. Edward Lee Jones, who was arrested in October for allegedly murdering a Florence woman had a preliminary hearing today before District Judge Carole Coil Medley.
Jones was arrested by Bessemer Police and F.B.I. agents in the Birmingham area for allegedly killing Lula Teresa Addison in Florence in room 317 of the City Lodge on Court Street, and stuffing her body underneath the bed. Addison’s body was not discovered for 3 days.
A preliminary hearing is held when a person is charged with a felony, and whose does not go through a grand jury. The hearing determines if there is actually enough evidence for the person to be tried for the crime.
As of this writing, Judge Medley had not made her ruling in Jones’ case, but District Attorney Chris Connolly is confident that he will be found sufficiently complicent in the murder.

A pitiful memorial…, placed by friends and family for Lula Teresa Addison.
A home-made memorial for Ms. Addison has been placed on Court Street in front of the hotel where she was murdered.
