Eugene “Gene” Day, 64, of Sheffield, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the burial following at Mt. Joy Cemetery.
Gene was a native of Cullman and an avid fan of the Sheffield Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. and Billie Jean Day and sister, Sheila Johnston.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy; sons, Shawn and Michael Melton both of Sheffield and Richard Day (Kimberly) of Florida; daughters, Cherri Gregory (Delton), Emily Rodgers, Tiffany Wilson (Jody), Marcia day (Shawn) all of Cullman and Lacie Melton of Sheffield; sisters, Jeanette Woods (Terry) of Blountsville, Brenda Day and Wynell McDonald both of Cullman; grandchildren, Heather, Dexton, Oistin, Keiara, Dustin, Jed, Breanna, Ally Cat, Ashleigh, Kami, Boo, Kyle, Austin, Ashley and Jared.
Grandchildren and friends will serve as pallbearers.
