June 12, 1935 – February 16, 2026

Esther Rose Schaffer Whisenhunt, age 90, peacefully passed from this life on February 16, 2026. Born on June 12, 1935, Esther lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and devoted service.

A lifelong and faithful member of Sacred Heart Church of Cullman, Esther served her parish with unwavering dedication. She was Past President of the Christian Youth Organization (CYO), Past President of the Altar Society, and a devoted member of the Sacred Heart Choir until she could no longer attend services in person. Her love for worship and sacred music reflected the steadfast faith that guided her life.

Esther found great joy in caring for her home and land. She loved growing a garden and tending her flower beds, nurturing beauty from the soil with patience and care. She helped farm poultry and cattle alongside her family, embodying a strong work ethic and quiet resilience. Her hands were rarely idle — she enjoyed working puzzles and lovingly sewed and mended for others, always ready to help with a gentle and generous spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Louise Schaffer; her beloved husband, Arville Franklin Whisenhunt; and her seven siblings, Edna, Hermina, Christine, Charlotte, Theresa, Ann, and Agatha.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Pitts (Tim) and Beverly Vance (Nathan); her grandchildren, Ashtin Hipp (Shanon), Branch Pitts (Sydney), Lakelee Robertson (DJ), Cody Wolfsen, and Kaegen Wolfsen; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Ridge, Kallyn, Rowan, Rylan, Baylor, and Banks.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow for family at Memory Gardens.

Esther’s life was a reflection of grace, resilience, and unwavering faith. We find comfort in knowing she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23.

She truly lived the promise of, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” – 2 Timothy 4:7.

Though she has left this earthly home, she now rests in eternal peace.
