Christopher Edward "Chris" Hornbuckle Christopher Edward “Chris” Hornbuckle, age 48, of the Coopertown Community of Springfield, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Tuesday, September 1st, in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield, with Bro. Keith Howell officiating. Burial will follow in the Coopertown Church of Christ cemetery with Gary Dean Hunter, Jason Dickens, Turtle Dickerson, Taylor Pofahl, Austin Boone, Monty Head, Edwin Lance and Brian Lance serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 3-8pm Monday and again from 11am until time of the service at 1pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hornbuckle was born April 12, 1978, in Nashville, to William Andrew and Barbara Jean Griggs Hornbuckle. He worked as a Facility Manager for DZL Management for 22 years. Chris was an avid University of Tennessee football fan, he loved drag racing and coaching baseball for many years, and was a member of the Coopertown Church of Christ.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, William Andrew Hornbuckle; and his father-in-law, Ray Hester.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Leah Hornbuckle; sons, Heath Hornbuckle and his girlfriend Kissy, and Levi Hornbuckle; a bonus son, Taylor Pofahl; mother, Barbara Penrod; brother, Mike (Traci) Irwin; sisters, Tanya Caskill and Susan (Gary) Bingham; mother-in-law, Maxine Hester; and a grand pup, Flash.
