Ernest Reeves, age 83, of Humboldt, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, in Jackson. Mr. Reeves, the husband of Ruth Ann Hendrix Reeves, was born October 7, 1938, in Henderson County, Tennessee, to the late Johnny Bell Reeves and Elizabeth Tyler Reeves. He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer, retiring from Lawrence and Sorenson Funeral Home. He started his career at Hunt Funeral Home in Humboldt, and also had worked for George A. Smith Funeral Homes in Humboldt and Jackson. He was a member of the Humboldt Lions Club and was a past president. He was a 1982 graduate of John A Gupton College of Mortuary.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Ann Reeves; two sons: Ernie Reeves (Linda) and Bob Horn (Katie); two daughters Karen Reeves Douglas (Tony) and Amy Reeves Potter (Blake); a sister, Kay Reeves Piletere (Frank); eight grandchildren: Kristopher Douglas, Kelsey Little (Spencer), Tyler Hawk (Brittany), Andy Hawk (Tana), Riley Hawk (Sydni), Nathan Hawk, Emily Hawk, and Amanda Palmer (Will); five great grandchildren: Liam, Skyler, Lexi, Cade, and Emmy.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Reeves was preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Neal Reeves; six brothers, Roy Reeves, Fred Reeves, Covey Reeves, J.E. Reeves, Elco Reeves, and Ray Reeves; and one sister Lorene Blankenship.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:00-9:00 p.m., Monday, and also on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in the Darden Cemetery.
