Ermogene A. Laxson, aged 93, of Athens, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at her home. Born on May 2nd, 1932, in Madison, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late James E. Anderson and Amanda J. McFarlen Anderson.
Mrs. Laxson leaves behind a large and loving family. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Glynn Laxson. Her children Glynice Denton and her husband Tyler, Guinn Laxson and his wife Tammy, Kay Abbott, Shirley Lail and her husband Sam, John Laxson and his wife Jean, and Tammy Reece and her husband Greg. Mrs. Laxson’s legacy includes 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
Ermogene was preceded in death by her parents, James and Amanda Anderson, her sisters Mabel Anderson and Norene Post, her brothers Willis Anderson and Lawson Anderson, and her grandsons Devin Laxson and Jordan Laxson.
Funeral services to honor Mrs. Laxson’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Monday evening, August 25th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Laxson will be laid to rest at Athens City Cemetery. The pallbearers honoring Mrs. Laxson will be Greg Denton, Mark Denton, Clint Abbott, Blake Abbott, Jared Laxson, Hunter Reece, Skylar Lail, and Easton Reece.
Ermogene A. Laxson will be remembered for her love of God, family, and friends. She has left a lasting impression on all that she met, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
