Emma Sue Prater – Obituary

Graveside service for Emma Sue Prater, age 84, of Decatur, will be today, February 14, 2013, 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Rudy Guess officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends today from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.    Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Prater, who died Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital – Parkway Campus, was born June 14, 1928, in Morgan County, to Louis Bertram Wright and Nellie Palmer Wright.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Doyle Prater, her parents, and one brother, John Eugene Wright. Mrs. Prater was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church where she also sang in the choir.

She is survived by three children, Connie Prater Torbert (Tim), Doyle Bertram Prater, Mary Nell Prater Weeks (Rob), all of Decatur; devoted nephew and nieces,  John Steven Wright, Leanne Wright Barr, and Jane Wright Barran; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Eric Prater, Patrick Prater, Rob Nowlin, Kevin Humphrey, Chris Wright, Jeremy Braswell, Ed Klingler, and Nate Van Der Veer.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley or your favorite charity.
