Elmer “Ray” Johnston – Obituary

Elmer “Ray” Johnston passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the age of 87. His visitation will be Saturday, March 24, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Larry Kilpatrick officiating. His burial will be at Tri Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence.

Ray was born in Kiser, Tennessee, but his family relocated to Sheffield when he was young. He graduated from Sheffield High School and he retired from Reynolds Metals Company where he worked as an electrician. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 558. He was an active member of the Cox Blvd. Church of Christ until health issues necessitated a move to Birmingham to be close to family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alice Johnston, and his brother, Don Johnston.

His survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Martha Freeman Johnston; his nephew, Greg Johnston and his wife Susan; and a grand-nephew, Andrew Johnston, all of Birmingham.
