Ellen S. Walker, age 89 of Cowan, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born on April 10, 1934, to the late Wrice and Annie (Coker) Powers. Before her retirement, she had been employed at Wilton Manufacturing. Ellen was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Walker; children, Wade Walker, and Joy Short; grandson, Jared Bailey; and thirteen siblings, as she was the last surviving of fourteen children. Ellen is survived by her loving daughter, Melinda (James) Vineyard; grandchildren, John (Dawn) Bailey, Lena (Steven) Clark, Wesley (Heather) Walker, Matthew (Rebecca) Walker, and Christopher (Theresa) Vineyard; ten great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-3pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Watson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home.
