Elizabeth J. Libby, age 93, died peacefully at home on December 19th, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, William H. Libby, her sisters, Lois LaDow, Barbara Taylor, and Dorothy Byrne, and her parents, Elizabeth and Harold M. Johnson. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Henderson (Tom) of Tuscaloosa, Barbara Hall (George) of Huntsville, Beth Phillips of Birmingham, and Judy Fisher (Bob) of Beaumont, Texas; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Libby was born in Akron, Ohio. She attended Akron University and worked at Goodyear Tire Company during WWII. She met and married her husband in Akron, they moved to Huntsville, Alabama in the mid 50’s, then to Beaumont, Texas, returning to Huntsville when her husband retired in 1987. Mrs. Libby and her husband enjoyed square dancing, playing bridge, and traveling.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 23rd, with a celebration of her life and memorial service at 3 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 301 Drake Avenue, SE, Huntsville. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
