Elizabeth Faye Emberton Brown  Elizabeth Faye Emberton Brown was born July 16, 1935, in Athens, Alabama and returned to her Father in Heaven peacefully on January 3, 2025, with family by her side and the hymn, “How Great Thou Art” playing softly in the background.

She met the love of her life, Lyman Donald Brown, and was married on October 20, 1951, at the age of 16. They started their life in Sheridan, AR, and raised 6 children. She was a devoted wife, mama, and maw-maw.

She was a joyfully faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a woman of prayer and had a strong relationship with her Savior, relying on Him for strength through times of distress and times of solace. She enjoyed reading the scriptures, doing genealogy work, and serving God and her fellowman, especially by sharing her love of the gospel. She had an infectious love for all people that radiated wherever she went. As the true matriarch of her family, she was looked to for prayers, advice, laughs, hugs, smiles, and affirmations of love.

There are a lot of people rejoicing on the other side, welcoming her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter James and Lura May Emberton; 7 siblings (Paul, Glen, Audrey, Calvin, Margaret, Nadine, Oleta); her husband, Lyman Donald Brown; son, Ronnie Lee Brown; daughter, Donna Faye Fogus; and granddaughter, Alissa Lynn Gaddy.

She is survived by her children, Hilton Fogus, Brenda Gail Pannozzo (Vinnie), Donald Brown (Tunnie), Suzette Brown, Angela Brown, and Chris Brown (Leslie); 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2006 Modaus Rd SW, Decatur, AL, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Family will be received at 9:00 a.m. for viewing and family prayer. Friends will be received at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and sons: Donald Brown, Chris Brown, Carson Brown, Bradley Fogus, Robbie Campbell, Brian Freeman, Scott Manning, Joey Brown, and Tim Clough.

The interment will immediately follow the service at Sardis Springs Baptist Church, 18310 Al-251, Athens, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, fighting childhood cancer.
