Graveside Service for Elizabeth Dunaway Proctor, 89 of Hartselle will be Monday August 20, 2018 at 1:30PM at Hartselle City Cemetery with Rev. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home Directing. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00-1:00PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Elizabeth Dunaway Proctor peacefully passed away at the blessed age of 89 on August 17, 2018. She was born to John Pettus and Eula Bush Dunaway and lived her early youth in Hartselle and surrounding areas of North Alabama as her father helped build the TVA Dam System and her mother taught school. She proudly cheered the Morgan County High School Tigers as a cheerleader and continued to follow “her” team to the end. She spent one fun-filled year at Jacksonville State University, of which many tales were told.
Elizabeth and her former husband, James Howard Proctor, had two daughters, Elizabeth Proctor Watson and Rebecca Proctor Kildisas. She jovially enjoyed her two sons-in-laws, Jack Watson and Ray Kildisas and was extremely proud of her three grandchildren, Jon, Elizabeth and Wesley Watson, who filled her heart with sweetness and joy. Eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren blissfully completed her life.
Many people will remember Ms. Proctor as the one whom cheerfully and most competently assisted them with information at the Morgan County Revenue Commissioners office where she worked until she was seventy-three. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who were fortunate enough to be influenced by her patience, kindness and generous heart. Elizabeth was the epitome of a true southern lady.
The family wishes to gratefully thank Karen Gill and the nurses and aides of Hospice of North Alabama who lovingly made Ms. Proctor’s last year so comfortable and tranquil. In lieu of flowers and cards, donations may be made to Hospice of North Alabama Foundation, 3311 Bob Wallace Avenue SW, Huntsville, Alabama 35805.
