Elizabeth “Buba” Hayes, age 90 of Cherokee, passed away on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017. Her visitation will be Thursday, April 6th, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Sammy Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Margerum Cemetery.
Elizabeth Hayes, known by most as “Buba”, was a school bus driver for many, many years. Her house was open to not only her many children but all of their many friends also. They were all loved and welcome at all times. Elizabeth was a member of Mynot Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hayes; grandson, Brandon Hayes; daughter-in-law, Carol Hayes; son-in-law, Tommy Joe Worsham; and great-grandchild, Howard Bocanegra.
She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Hayes (Genell), Mike Hayes (Lana), Billy Hayes (Melanie), and Jeff Hayes; daughter, Jill Worsham; sister, Genell Cornelius Gibbs; grandchildren, Alison (Edwin), Kelly (Billy), Nicole (Hans), Ellen (Richard), Kacey, Emily (Derrick), Kayla (Andrew), Crystal (Jimmy), Heather (Josh), Brandy (Ricky), Shane (Theresa), and Brandi; and great-grandchildren, Lucianna, Hayes, Lane, Brady, Sailar, Natalie, Baylee, Cody, Kameron, Madilynn, Rylee, Bentley, Kayden, and Brayden.
Pallbearers will be Derrick Thrasher, Andrew Thorn, Billy Grissom, Richard Woodruff, David Cornelius, and Herby Hayes. Honorary pallbearers will be Hans Pell, Lane Aday, Rylee Rogers, Josh Thacker, Jimmy Adkins, Ricky Voyles, and Jimbo Hamm.
