Elizabeth “Betty” Boyst Lawrence, age 89, passed away on January 18, 2025, at 2:14 p.m. She was born on October 26, 1935, in Charlotte, NC and graduated from Emory University with a degree in nursing.
Betty married the love of her life, Richard Lawrence, on April 12, 1958, and was happily married for 55 years. She resided in Huntsville, Alabama, for 58 years, was a member of DAR, and remained an active member of her church including her Cokesbury class which she attended since 1982. Betty co-created Trinity Advocates which was a service organization that raised money to pay off the building debt. Betty was a server and organizer for community meal events held at the church as part of Trinity Advocates. She loved socializing and going on outings and loved to travel with her husband and groups of friends. She took 11 overseas trips to places including Europe, the Greek Isles and South America.
She is survived by her children, David, Kathy, and Carol; grandchildren, Kris, Kevin, Jase, Dylan, and Alyssa; and great-grandson, Theo.
Visitation will be held at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on January 22, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A service will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Betty at Trinity United Methodist Church on January 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery where David Lawrence, Rusty Cowan, Kris Poorman, Alyssa Lawrence, Kevin Poorman, and Jase Poorman will serve as pallbearers.
