Elizabeth Ann Cornelius Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Walls Cornelius passed away peacefully in her home Saturday October 1. She was 79.
Elizabeth was born 27 October 1942 in Grant Alabama the only child of Grover and Ila Walls. She attended DAR school and graduated from Marshall County High School in 1961.
Liz raised 3 sons and inspired the spiritual foundation for their lives. She sought to honor the Lord in everything she did and loved her Guntersville Church of Christ family where she was a member for over 60 years.
When her children were grown and husband Jerry retired from the Army, they started Cornelius Real Estate where she worked as the office manager. During this time, they traveled all over the United States and loved visiting the Western US.
Liz was an avid gardener and was known for raising cactus. She also loved to fish.
She loved her 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild most of all and never missed an opportunity to share their lives and accomplishments with her many friends.
Liz is survived by 3 sons: Jeff (Shannon), Randy (Angie), John (Susan) along with Grandchildren: Ben Cornelius (Stephanie), Leanne Cornelius, Brian Cornelius, Joshua Cornelius, Laura Cornelius, Jessica Cornelius, Abbey Cornelius and one Great Grandson Nate Cornelius.
Liz was preceded in death by her mother, Ila Walls, Her father, Grover Walls and her beloved husband of 56 years, Jerry Cornelius.
The funeral will be conducted on Thursday October 6 at the Guntersville Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 with a celebration of her life at 3:00. Entombment will be at Crestview Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are Ben Cornelius, Joshua Cornelius, Brian Cornelius, Chad Cornelius, Sam Wright, and Spencer Grady.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes for all memorials to go to the Guntersville Church of Christ.
