Elberta Counts, 89, of Decatur, died Monday, July 7, 2014. Her visitation will be on Thursday from 1 until 3:45 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Counts is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Counts, her parents, one brother, four sisters and two great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of four years, TL “Tommy” Colburn of Decatur; daughters, Joyce Ontiveros of Decatur and Debbie Counts Arnold of Decatur; sons, Larry Counts (Kathy) of Decatur and Gary Counts of Huntsville; sister, Helen Strickland (Lonnie) of Phil Campbell; nine grandchildren, Celestina, Carla, Serena, Jennifer, Bo, Kent, Laura, Stewart and Katey; and four great-grandchildren, Sean, Livia, Logan and Hayden.
Mrs. Counts was a lifelong member of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church for 60-plus years and Sixteenth Avenue Baptist is on their 125th Anniversary this year. She was a member of Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Pallbearers will be friends and relatives.
