Mr. Edwin Hershell Madewell, age 86, of McMinnville, TN passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at NHC Health Care. He was born on May 25, 1939 to parents William Albert Madewell and Allie Jane Jennings. He was an engineer with AEDC and was of the Christian faith. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he served his country with strength and honor. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 64 years Patricia Ann Lavender Madewell, sisters Juanita Partin, Alberta Jackson, Taska Melton, and Etta Roberts, and brother Willie Albert Madewell.
He is survived by his children Billy Madewell, James (Jacquelyn) Madewell, and Donhua (Stan) Cantrell, grandchildren Cale (Patrick) Madewell, Hannah (Zac) Johnson, Brenton (Lindsay) Madewell, Toni (Grant) Mullican, Shawna (Blake) Stewart, and Eli Cantrell, great grandchildren Aiden Johnson, Hadley Johnson, Brooklynn (Dallas) Greene, Breana Madewell, Braxton Madewell, Jaelyn Munoz, Jamison Munoz, Aliyah Mullican, Alayna Mullican, Stella Madewell, Levi Madewell, Lennox Mullican, and Adaline Stewart, great-great grandchild Taliah Greene, sister Grace Moore, and brother Allison Madewell.
Funeral services for Mr. Hershell Madewell are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 25, 2026 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M.
