JackMr. Edwin Earl (Jack) Crawford passed from this life Wednesday night, October 9, 2013, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 27 days.

Born April 12, 1920 in Fayette County to James Earl and Bessie Wiles Crawford, he was a retired rural mail carrier. He married Frances Maxine Wilson on February 26, 1946 and served in the US Army during WWII where he was stationed in Burtonwood, England. He also worked as a farmer, was the owner/operator of Crawford’s Grocery, and enjoyed woodworking. He lived all of his life in Whiteville and was a member of Whiteville Methodist Church

In addition to his wife, survivors include 2 sons, Gaylon Crawford and wife Dianne of Somerville, and Burton Crawford of Whiteville; 2 grandchildren, Daniel and wife Courtney Crawford, and Benjamin Crawford; 2 great grandchildren, Hannah and Dylan Crawford, and 2 nieces, Sandra Nesbitt and husband Paul and Dana Wilhelm and husband Doug. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, James Earl and William Lavon Crawford.

The family requests memorials be made to Whiteville Methodist Church or Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
