Edward Patrick “Pat” Staley, 87, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Visitation will be Friday, June 30, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church, Tuscumbia. The funeral mass will immediately follow at the church with Father Benny Karimalikkal officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Pat was a veteran of the US Army National Guard and a member of Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church, where he served as chairman of the Church Maintenance Committee. He was a member of Alabama TREASURE Forest Association and the Knights of Columbus; Volunteer Chairman of Appeals Board of Muscle Shoals City; Chairman of the Heritage of Colbert County, Alabama, book published in 1999. He is listed among Texas First Families. He retired from U.S. Steel, Cherokee. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and walking on his farm with his beloved dog, Bella. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mary Gusmus Staley; brother, J. Fred Staley; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jo “Mike” and Joseph Heiberger, great grandchild, River Michael Collins; and son-in-law, Steve McCrary.
Pat is survived by his wife, Martha Aigner Staley; children, Terry Staley McCrary, Karen Staley-Collins (Steve), and Patrick L. Staley (Candy); and grandchildren, John Patrick McCrary, Michael Thomas Collins, and Silas Waterman; and great-granddaughter, Annslee Harrison.
Pallbearers will be Gary Ledlow, Ronnie Campbell, Michael Collins, John Patrick McCrary, Paul Gusmus, and Tommy Osborn.
