Edna Ruth Gattis Durham Hamby, 100, passed away at Tishomingo Community Living Center on April 10, 2025. She was a wonderful, kind person who will be missed by many, especially her family whom she loved unconditionally. She was the widow of R.C.Durham and Harry Hamby, both WWII veterans. She was born on January 25, 1925 to George Washington Gattis and Maudie Mae Johnson Gattis in Tishomingo County, MS. She was a fine Christian lady.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 12, at noon with visitation 10-12 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Rev. Steven Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Tishomingo City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Durham (Tamra) of Tupelo, MS, Danny Durham (Sandy) of Finger, TN and Dennis Durham of Tishomingo, MS; grandchildren, Angela Leathers of Booneville, MS, Tamsin Leeth (Alan) of Shoal Creek, AL, Neal Durham of Collinsville, OK, Chad Durham (Cammy) of Maud, AL, Britt Durham (Wendy) of Cape Girardeau, MO, Japeth Durham, College Grove, TN, Joey Durham of Pascagoula, MS, Kristin Durham of Tishomingo, MS, Brandon Bauman (Kelsey) and David Bauman (Kassie); great-grandchildren, Whitney Turner, Cody Durham (Tess), Casey Durham, Quaid Durham, Nealy Durham, Arden Hamilton, Aiden Quinn, Warner Durham, Mary-Ella Durham, Pierce Durham, Davis Leeth and Kate Leeth; great-great-grandchildren, Madyson and McKenna Ray, Hudson Durham, Alex, Zach (Breanna), Lili and Myles Bauman, Taylor, Ben and Blaine Bauman; one sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Bostick Gattis, Tishomingo, MS and many very special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; one son, Tommy Durham; granddaughter-in-law, Whitney Rice Durham; her parents; sisters, Hazel Dunkin McAlister (Andrew), Geraldine Bostick (Edward), Evelyn Poole (Jack) and Mildred Gasaway (Casey); brothers, Wilmer Gattis (Christine), Raymond Gattis (Jean) and Ben Gattis; half-siblings, Woodrow Gattis, Howard Gattis (Loda Bell), Lida Bell Lambert (Bell), Christine Dempsey (Johnny), Thomas Smith and Irene Neal (Johnny).
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Chad Durham, Britt Durham, Cody Durham, Casey Durham, Arden Hamilton, Aiden Quinn, Warner Durham and Japeth Durham.
