Edna Melvina Kelley Tennyson Mitchell, age 96, passed away Tuesday morning, November 27, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Mrs. Mitchell was born and reared in Chester County, the daughter of the late J. Alvin and Sara Crickett Bailey Kelley. She attended schools in McNairy County, and was married to Dewey Tennyson of McNairy County. They made their home in Selmer and later Memphis. Mr. Tennyson was a truck driver for Ryder Truck Lines. Mr. Tennyson passed away in 1962. She was later married to John L. Mitchell of Finger. They made their home near Henderson. Mr. Mitchell passed away in 2001. She was employed by Brown Shoe Company and Sears of Memphis as a young lady. She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Scott Tennyson and Christy Tennyson; two great grandchildren Dewey Tennyson and Clint Tennyson; and two great-great grandchildren Tristan Travis and Savanah Tennyson; two step sons, John Douglas Mitchell of Lafayette, CO and Dwight Dale Mitchell of Aurora, CO and a step daughter, Mary Hellen McFadden of Pela Hatchie, MS a brother, James Kelley of Henderson and two sisters; Rachel Seeley and Mary Harris both of Jackson.
She was also preceded in death by, a son Maury Tennyson in 2000; two sisters, Era Mae Talbert and Ora Lea Barham and a brother Joe Kelley.
