Edgar Ray Woodis – Obituary

EdgarEdgar Ray Woodis was born December 17, 1931, in Allsboro, to the late Jesse J. and Lola Ethel Sparks Woodis. A veteran of the United States Army and recipient of a Purple Heart, Mr. Woodis served during the Korean War. He relocated to Tuscumbia, and was employed as a machinist at Reynolds Metal Company. Mr. Woodis was a Christian, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia.

On Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the age of 81, Mr. Woodis passed away. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, June 10, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m., at Allsboro Methodist Cemetery. Rev. David Lee and Rev. David Dale will officiate.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Woodis was also preceded in death by son, Harry T. Woodis, and brother, William Eugene Woodis.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Bettye Alice Woodis; sons, Eddie Woodis, of Cullman, and Jessie Alan Woodis (Mary), of Florence; grandchildren, Jessica Woodis, Emily Parker (Joey), and Parker Daniil Woodis; sister-in-law, Beverly McCormack Woodis; as well as a neice, nephews, cousins, and a very special pet, Bella.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia, 104 East Third Street, Tuscumbia, Alabama 35674.
