Eddie James Bond, Sr. – Obituary

EddieMr. Eddie James Bond, Sr. departed this life Wednesday morning, March 20, 2013 at his home in Bolivar, Tennessee. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Bond was born in Memphis July 1, 1933 to the late William Jeffrey and Doshie Mae Riley Bond. On September 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Gladys Stephens, who survives. He was a musician and entertainer touring with Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Warren Smith and others and was a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He served in the United States Navy for a year and lived in Memphis most of his life before moving to Bolivar about 13 years ago. He was a Shriner and a member of Parran’s Chapel Baptist Church in Bolivar.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by two daughters, Becky Bond Collins of Bolivar and Lisa Bond Seawright and husband Richey of Olive Branch, Mississippi; two sisters, Gussie Smith of Southaven, Mississippi and Barbara Greenlee of Walls, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Jenny Riley, Alexis Bond and Ryan Seawright; two great-grandchildren, Gina Riley and Gary Lee Riley III; a nephew, James Smith; and niece, Darlene Williams.

Mr. Bond was preceded in death by his parents as well as his son, Eddie Bond, Jr., who passed away June 26, 2002.
