edMr. Eddie “Ed” Carruth Bartee, 72, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at North MS Medical Center. He was born to the union of Eddie Rex Bartee and Catherine Carruth Bartee of Hutchinson Co., Texas, on November 9, 1943. He was a graduate of Byram High School outside of Jackson, MS, and continued his studies at Mississippi State University where he earned a degree in Accounting. He was a patriotic American, serving in the U.S. Air Force during peacetime. Ed married his sweetheart, Tammy Hall on June 10, 1989 at the Elvis Presley Chapel in Tupelo.
Ed was a hard worker, his first job working for his father as a young boy, pumping gas and roping cattle. He worked as a Certified Public Accountant for many years before retiring, and also presently as a Realtor, alongside his wife, Tammy, at Coldwell Banker. He was gifted with his hands, building birdhouses, loved playing golf, and working in his yard. He will be missed for the cakes he baked for friends and family. He loved his family, loved life, and loved his many fur babies, most recently, Cami and Sadie who he took for long walks every day. He was a member of Hope Church in Tupelo.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be at 3 PM, Friday, November 4, 2016 in the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Tim Williams and Kevin Wood officiating. Visitation will be from 2 PM to service time on Friday. Condolences may be e-mailed to hollandfuneraldirectors.net.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy of Tupelo; four sons, Tad Bartee, Matthew Bartee, both of Tupelo, Chris Bartee (Stephanie) of Southlake, TX, and Mike Bartee (Dara) of Mandeville, LA; one sister, Di Ann Lewis (Harvey) of St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren, Brad Bartee, Brian Bartee, Jake Bartee, and Dylan Bartee; mother-in-law, Jo Hall of Belden. He is preceded in death by his parents.
