Brenda Carol Walker, 72, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at North Mississippi Medical Center. Born in Tupelo on May 14, 1944 to Sarah Clay Whitehead Walker and Charles Cleon Walker, she graduated from Tupelo High School in l961 and attended Itawamba Junior College for 2 years. Brenda retired from J. C Penny Company after a career of 36 years. She started as a sales clerk and retired as manager of the catalogue department. Brenda had a quiet pleasing demeanor, was blessed with a kind heart, a passion for animals and loved her daily walks with her Plantersville friends. She enjoyed the activities of her Church and church family, First Baptist Church of Plantersville, where she joyfully sang in the choir and was active in Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Clay “Kaki” and Charles Cleon Walker, her brother, Joe Cleon “Pete” Walker and wife, Bobbie Sue Walker.

Those she loved most who survive her include her niece, Sonya Walker and nephews, Barry Walker, Esq., and his wife, Holly and their children, Kelly and Mason all of Tupelo and Colonel Jon Walker, USAF, Retired and his children, Joseph, Mary and Macon of Manassas, Virginia; her God daughter, Brandi Bridges and her most special friend, Pat Shaffer of Tupelo and her extended family, Kitsi and Pete Kennedy and Steve and Mary Ann Shaffer and their families.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Plantersville with her pastor, Brother Danny Balint officiating. Private family burial will be next to her parents at the Plantersville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM-service time Saturday only at First Baptist Church-Plantersville. Holland Funeral Directors, Tupelo Chapel is honored to be serving their friends.
