Ed Aagesen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Staten Island NY, he was the son of Edgard V. and Mina Aagesen. He retired from the New York State Police after 21 years of service. A veteran, Ed spent four years active duty in the Air Force and 22 years in the Army Reserve.
Ed was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. As an avid pilot Ed loved to fly, especially with his children over Rainbow Lake. He enjoyed helping others and was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved spending time on his patio with his friends and feeding his hummingbirds. Ed will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of integrity, humor and kindness.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Mary, and his twin sister, Joann Venturella. He is survived by his son, Erik Aagesen (Chelsea) of Murfreesboro, TN; his daughter, Kirsten Darrah (Dan) of Peru, NY; his sister, Karen Aagesen (Steve) of Londonderry, NH; his grandchildren, Tatem, Alysa and Bryce; and his beloved companion, Carol Wright of Huntsville.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 1st at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Ave SW, Huntsville AL. In keeping with Ed’s wishes there will be no formal memorial service.
