Mr. Earl Dodd, age 76 of Winfield, AL passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at U.A.B. Hospital in Birmingham. He was employed with Dummond Coal Company for 23 years and owned and operated Winco Security Company/Southern Protection Services for 31 years and was still active with its daily operation.
Mr. Dodd was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family. His grandchildren were the center of his world. His favorite pasttime was attending their sports activities or anything they were involved in. He also loved attending his security guard business and he loved his employees. Many of his employees have said that not only was he a good boss but also a good friend. He was a faithful attendee of Faith Church in Winfield and loved his Faith Church family where he attended for many years before moving to Winfield.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 3, 2023 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Kenny Sudduth and Pastor Eddie Ayers officiating. Burial will following in Lynn Cemetery.
Mr. Dodd is survived by his wife, Brenda Dodd; daughter, Raina (Darrell) Elkins; grandchildren, Jake (Emilie) Elkins, Jackson Elkins and Molly Kate Elkins; sisters in law, Marilyn Jo Dodd, Jeannie (Bill) Anderson and Caroline (Eddie) Sparks; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Thurman Dodd and Elfair Farris Dodd; daughter, Misty Dodd; brother, Kinneth Dodd; and niece, Kimberly Dodd.
