Earl Dean “Bud” Brown – Obituary

Earl Dean “Bud” Brown, 80, of Cherokee, died Saturday, May 5, 2018. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral will be Wednesday, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Steve Slaton will officiate. Burial will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery, with military honors.

Earl Dean was a native of Cherokee, a veteran of the United States Army, and a member of Cherokee First Baptist Church. PF1C Earl Dean served his country in the United States Army and was deployed to Germany. He retired as a mechanic and spent the majority of his life helping others, whether it was working on cars, delivering groceries or driving people to their doctors’ appointments. He never asked for anything in return. “Bud” was a kind and gentle soul, who never spoke ill of anyone. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Dean and Lizzie Hargett Brown; brother-in-law, Bobby Mayfield; and niece, Elizabeth Ann Mayfield.

Earl Dean is survived by his sister, Jane Brown Mayfield; niece, Nancy Vance (Scott); and great-nieces, Taylor and Sara Vance.

Pallbearers include Scott Vance, Doug Hargett, Wally Rickard, Shelby Sockwell, Terry Lambert and Jack Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Nelson, Grady Hargett and Bill Derryberry.
