The family of Dylan Andrew Stogner, 23, is deeply saddened over his sudden death on the evening of March 21, 2022. Dylan was born on July 8, 1998, in Huntsville, Alabama. He grew up in a military family and spent most of his childhood in Kailua, Hawaii, later moved to Sunnyvale, California, and returned to Huntsville, Alabama when he was in middle school. He attended Pope John Paul II Catholic High School and ultimately graduated from Huntsville High School in 2016. Dylan attended Calhoun Community College and Auburn University.

Dylan had a beautiful, magnetic personality and a quirky, witty sense of humor. His laughter was genuinely contagious, and his energy lit up the room. He lived a purposeful life and left all who knew and loved him with countless meaningful memories.

He was an incredible singer and songwriter and he loved to play the guitar. He loved the ocean and was a true adventurer. Dylan enjoyed being outdoors: he loved surfing, skateboarding, fishing, traveling, and reading. His favorite poet was Rumi, whom he named his beloved cat after. He was sincere, gentle, thoughtful, grateful, empathetic, and warmhearted.

Dylan is survived by his parents, Patrick and Jennifer Stogner; brother, Jackson Stogner; sister, Rachel Stogner; and maternal grandmother, Mary Catherine Acuff. He was blessed with a large and loving family and also left behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be truly missed by his loved ones and countless friends. Dylan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Arthur Stogner Sr. and Sue Stogner; his maternal grandfather, Maurice White; and his uncle, William Arthur (Art) Stogner Jr..

An important piece to the story of this beautiful boy is the devastating toll that his struggle with substance use disorder took on his life. Ultimately, this struggle led to the loss of his life due to an accidental overdose. The family requests that donations be made to Not One More Alabama (NOMA) in Dylan’s memory: https://www.notonemorealabama.org/donate.html

We will miss your kind heart, sweet smile, and beautiful face.

Please join us on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Church of the Highlands – Huntsville (330 Nance Road Huntsville, Alabama 35758) to celebrate Dylan’s life. There will be a visitation from 11am-1pm and a funeral service following at 1pm.
