Dud Phillips, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Trinity Healthcare in Columbus, MS. Mr. Phillips was born March 15, 1934, to the late Leonard and Ethel Phillips in Anderson, SC. Mr. Phillips was a Clemson graduate who worked for the Army Corp of Engineers for 35 years as an architectural engineer, finishing his career at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL. In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Overstreet Phillips and his brother Leon H. Phillips.
He is survived by his sons, David (Susan), of Columbus, MS and Timothy (Cherie), of Raleigh, NC; as well as 6 grandchildren, Taylor and Bailey Phillips and Toney-Paite, Skylar, Grantland and Aisley Phillips.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL with Pastor Marty Jordan officiating.
Mr. Phillips loved his Morningside Baptist Church family and singing in the choir there, so the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Music Program at Morningside Baptist Church, 15001 Bailey Cove Rd, Huntsville, AL 35803.
