DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit investigated complaints of drug activity at the Motel 6 and discovered an illegal drug operation:
“After receiving numerous complaints from concerned citizens, the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit began an inquiry into the alleged drug activity at the Motel 6 room#114. During the operation Brett Marvel was developed as a suspect and distributed a quantity of Methamphetamine.
On 7/22/2016 members of the Decatur Police Department’s Organized Crime Unit, Anti-Crime Unit, and Special Response Unit (SWAT) executed a narcotics search warrant at the Motel 6 room#114 (810 6th Avenue Northeast Decatur, Alabama). During the search of the room a quantity of Methamphetamine, Marihuana, drug paraphernalia, & a large amount of U.S. currency was located. Also a surveillance camera system was located.
Marvel was arrested and charged with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marihuana 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The U.S. currency was seized pending condemnation proceedings.
Marvel was booked into the Decatur City Jail and will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $11,500.00 total bond.”
