Drug Arrest By Athens Police Department

Morgan-county-featuredMORGAN COUNTY-Morgan County Sheriff’s Department reports on an arrest made by the Athens Police Department resulting in a felony drug arrest.  Here is  what Sheriff Ana Franklin has to say on the update of this case :

“UPDATE: On March 6, 2014, Ian Van Hunter was arrested by Athens Police Department on outstanding Felony warrants for the Unlawful

Possession of Marijuana – Hashish Oil 1st Degree for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. The Morgan County Sheriff’s office had been receiving tips on the where a bouts of Ian Van Hunter throughout the day, Thursday March 6, 2014. Morgan County Sheriff’s Office had learned that Ian Van Hunter was attempting to return to Colorado and was held up at the Country Hearth Inn, in Athens, Al. Athens Police Department arrested Ian Van Hunter and was turned over to a Morgan County Deputy and transported to the Morgan County Jail. Upon entering the Morgan County Jail property belonging to Ian Van Hunter was gone through, Detention Officer located drug paraphernalia, being: plastic baggies and a jar containing marijuana residue. Agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force arrived and took possession of drug paraphernalia items and spoke with Ian Van Hunter. Ian Van Hunter’s bond was set at $50,000.00 due to him being a flight risk. Agents with the Drug Task Force also learned that Ian Van Hunter has an outstanding Felony Warrant – Probation Violation, with Bibb County, Georgia for a prior drug charge of which he has been convicted of. Morgan County will be attempting to contact Bibb County, Ga. for extradition.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for assisting in the apprehension of Ian Van Hunter.

Ian Van Hunter was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in addition to the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana – Hashish Oil 1st Degree. Bond set at : $50,300.00.”
