“Dot” Doris Mae Harris, aged 87, of Elkmont, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, at her home. Born on November 22nd, 1937, in Elkmont, she was the daughter of Marvin T. Hicks and Eula M. Owens Hicks.
Mrs. Harris is lovingly remembered by her son, Ronnie Harris and his wife, Teresa. Her legacy continues through her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Donald Hicks, and his wife, Annie, along with several nieces and nephews who held her dear.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William “Shorty” Harris, Jr.; her son, Danny Harris; her daughter, Lisa Harris; and four brothers and four sisters,
A visitation to honor Mrs. Harris’s memory will be held on Thursday, October 30th, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, officiated by Ronnie Harris and Deryl Clem. Mrs. Harris will be laid to rest at Thatch-Mann Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Dan Harris, Matthew Harris, Justin Turowski, Myles Bateman, Jimmie Cox, and James Swindle, who will respectfully carry her to her final resting place.
Mrs. Harris was a remarkable woman, cherished by all who had the fortune of knowing her. She had a passion for sewing, particularly crafting beautiful country curtains. Her skills in canning were well known, and her family was the heart of her world, whom she loved and cherished above all else. Her absence will be profoundly felt, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her loved ones.
