Dorothy Lucille Hopwood, 91, of Florence, Ala., passed from this life on April 24, 2013, at Mitchell Hollingsworth. She spent 32 years as a nurse at Mitchell Hollingsworth where she fulfilled her passion of working with the elderly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin and Blanche Mays; son, Thomas Hopwood; brothers, Eli and Buford Mays; sisters, Evelyn Buckman and Christine Leanza.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barbara Mason and Connie (Gerald) Briggs; son, James Larry Hopwood and daughter-in-law Barbara Hopwood. Also surviving are brothers, Harold (Mary) Mays and Richard Mays; as well as several nieces; and nephews. She had eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013, from noon-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the angels on Station Four at Mitchell Hollingsworth and Hospice of the Shoals for the wonderful care they gave our mother.
