Dorothy Elizabeth Montgomery Franks, age 74, of Harvest, Ala., died Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Her family will receive friends Saturday, March 16, 2013, 6-8 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home of Cherokee. Her funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jerry Hovis, Bud Hamm and Wayne Franks officiating. Burial will follow in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Franks was a native of Florence, Ala. and a member of Community Fellowship Baptist Church of Toney, Ala. She traveled extensively, performing with the gospel group “God’s Country” in the 1980s and 90s.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Allen Franks, of Harvest; her sons, Dexter and James Franks, of Huntsville; daughters, Nelody Franks, of Huntsville, and Susan Gill, of Montgomery, Ala.; her sister, Elaine Montgomery Dorris, of Huntsville; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Troy Franks, Kenneth Franks, Jimmy Winstead, Barry Winstead, Yancy Pounders and Sammy Murray.
Honorary pallbearers are Carl Cunningham and Joe Clement.
